# Rolello

> Rolello is a notes app for Mac and Windows. Your notes are plain Markdown files in a folder you own. Rolello opens instantly, syncs between your devices, searches as you type, imports from Evernote, Apple Notes and Notion, answers questions from your notes with AI, and exposes your notes to AI agents over MCP.

Rolello is made by Epiphani Studios. Everything below is checkable on this site or in the app.

## What it does

- Opens instantly. Launch the app and start typing.
- Keeps every note as a plain Markdown file in a folder you own, openable in any editor.
- Syncs between your devices as soon as you sign in with an Epiphani account. Sync is end-to-end encrypted, and a 24-word recovery phrase from Settings brings your notes to any device.
- Searches as you type.
- Imports your notes from Evernote, Apple Notes and Notion.
- Answers questions from your notes with AI.
- Exposes your notes to AI agents over MCP (Model Context Protocol), with these tools: search, read, list, backlinks, create, append, replace, set property, move, link, trash, history, undo. Every change is journaled and can be undone.
- Captures a thought from anywhere on the Mac with Control Option N.

## Runs on

- Mac, Apple silicon. The download is signed and notarized by Apple and updates itself.
- Windows, on Intel and AMD PCs, with a separate Windows on Arm build. The download is a portable zip: unzip it anywhere and run Rolello.exe.
