Privacy
This page covers two things: how rolello.com measures usage, and how Rolello protects your notes when it syncs them between your devices.
Your notes
Rolello keeps each note as a plain Markdown file in a folder you own. You can open that folder in any editor.
Sync
Sync runs between your devices as soon as you sign in with an Epiphani account, and a 24-word recovery phrase from Settings brings your notes to any device. Sync is end-to-end encrypted: every note is encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before it travels, and your own devices are the ones that read it.
How rolello.com measures usage
This site uses PostHog to count visits and downloads. The setup is deliberately small:
- Two events are recorded: a page view, and a click on a download link with the platform (Mac, Windows or Windows on Arm).
- Autocapture is switched off, so clicks, text and form fields on the page are left alone.
- Session recording is switched off, and any form input is masked.
- Do Not Track is respected: if your browser sends it, the site records nothing.
- Web addresses sent with an event are trimmed to the path, with the query string and the fragment removed.
- Referrer and campaign properties (such as utm tags and click identifiers) are removed before an event is sent.
- Events are tagged with the product name, rolello, and whether the page ran in production or development.
Margin, the assistant on the download page
Margin answers questions from the facts this site publishes and from the live release manifests. Your messages are sent to rolello.com so an AI model service can write the reply, and your browser keeps the conversation in session storage so a reload keeps your place. Closing the browser tab ends that stored thread.
Downloads
Downloads are served from rolello.com. The release manifest at rolello.com/download/latest.json lists each file with its checksum.
